Welcome to Planning and Development. The following pages give you the opportunity to learn about the major planning projects that are currently in progress throughout Santa Clara County’s regional park system. These projects are part of the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department's continuous planning process, which is focused on improving and maintaining the "necklace" of 27 parks that wrap around Santa Clara Valley. Your input to the planning process is often requested, so we encourage you to take a moment to familiarize yourself with the projects below and to come join us at any of the upcoming public meetings.
Current Master Plans
In 2003, the Parks Department completed a department-wide Strategic Plan, calling for integrated recreation and resource management planning for all County Parks. In 2004 an updated master plan for Coyote Creek Parkway Master Plan was initiated to incorporate the vision and goals of the Strategic Plan and respond to the changes along the Parkway. The Sanborn County Park Trails Master Plan commenced in the Fall of 2005 and will seek to develop a long term multi-use trails system.
